Sugar Syrup

This sugar syrup is used in most of the arabic desserts …. each country has a different name for it but its all the same sugar and water combination … the thing that makes it smell and taste better is the use of flower blossom water in it … it could be any type of flower water .. orange would be a good choice … some people even use rose water .. but to be honest i personally prefare flower water in this recipe … to make it u will need:

– 2 cups sugar

– 1 cup water

– juice of half a lemon or lime (about 1 tb)

– 1 tb flower blossom water, any type

add water to sugar

You start by putting the sugar in a pot and adding the water to it … bring it to a boil and stir every once in a while …

boil until dissolved

Make sure all the sugar dissolves …

add lemon

Once the sugar is dissolved completely … add the lemon juice .. this prevents crytalization ..


After adding the lemon … bring it back to a boil and boil it for about 15 mins .. keep an eye on it all the time .. we do this so that the color changes to slighty caramel .. not alot .. just a little …

Then remove from the heat and add the flower blossom water ….

    Ahh one thing I love about living in the Middle East is we can buy this already made in pancake syrup looking bottles, so easy and I never have to worry about it.

    Hay Nativecho … i actually never made rose water or flower water before … i have an idea how its done but never made it myself .. so i researched about it and found and pretty simple way to make it … here is the link … if u get to try it .. let me know how it turns out … and if u have any other questions i would gladly answer …. stay in touch 🙂
