Alayet Banadora (Tomato Stew)

Alayet banadora … meaning tomato stew in arabic… its one of my favorite recipes… its quiet simple with not much ingredients …. pretty similar to the pasta sauce .. but tastes different and it has no herbs in it … its served with white rice or bread (pitta ofcourse .. thats the one we eat the most)…unfortunetly i only got to photograph it after its done .. but i will try to describe it as much as i can ….to make it .. you will need:

alayet banadora

– 6 large ripe tomatoes chopped 

– 1 lb minced meat

– 1 red onion chopped

– 1 tb oil or butter (or Gee if available .. thats what we use)

– 1/2 ts all spice

– salt and pepper

In a pot … add the butter .. when it melts add the chopped onion .. and stir for few mins until its tender .. then add the minced meat and cook until its done … next add the tomatoes, all spice and season with salt and pepper…

Now cover it and bring it to a boil over high heat.. when it starts boiling … uncover, reduce heat to low and keep it for another 1 to 1 1/2 hour ….  and thats all … ready to serve …with a side of rice or bread …
