Sponge Cake

Im gonna try to show you a step by step photos for making a spong cake… u will need:

– 1 1/4 cup flour (all purpose)

– 1 ts baking powder

– 1 cup sugar

– 7 eggs

– 1 ts vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 180°C

Prepare a 10-inch cake pan by placing a parchment paper at the bottom ….

In a small bowl … mix the flour and the baking powder..

In a stand up mixer with the whisk attachment …. add the eggs, sugar and vanilla

Whisk the eggs and sugar until they double in size … like the above photo …

Remove the bowl and now all the mixing is to be done by hand .. so that the eggs do not deflate … add the flour a little at a time .. around 2 to 3 tb at a time ..

Now mix in a round and across motion…meaning … one time go in a circle around the bowl and one time across …  do that gently .. remember we dont want to deflate the eggs …  repeat by adding the flour until u finish the flour mixture

Pour into prepared pan and bake for 30 to 40 mins … until tester inserted comes out clean …
Decorate the way u like …. and enjoy 🙂

    honestly i never tried to make any cake in a microwave .. In the oven u can handle the temprature better and i beleive its the best choice for baking

    Hay Joanne … I actually tried this recipe with a 13 inch pan and it turned out perfect … surprisingly it was just perfect to be cut into a two layer cake .. and it wasnt thin at all … so i think a 14 inch pan would be good with it too .. but my recommendation is always try it once be4 the birthday .. i always do that with any new recipe i try … i hope this helps .. by the way this blog has been shifted to http://www.lailablogs.com/ … so if you would like to follow up with my recipes .. make sure to check it out … stay in touch … and let me know how your son’s cake turns out 🙂
